Barcelona has always been and is a city of national and international trade fairs,
congresses and conventions. Barcelona figures in the first positions
of the ranking of important cities of Europe and is well equipped for
the organization of trade fairs and congresses. Barcelona counts on 2
different exhibition centres: the historical centre of Montjuic
- that includes the Palace of Congresses -, and the new centre
of Gran Via M2 (about 2.5 km away from Montjuic, direction to the
airport), that also counts on a Convention center. To get to the
two centres by public transport from the airport, the port or the central
train station is easy. From the main airport of Barcelona (El Prat) the
airport bus (Aereobus) will take you to the Plaça Espanya
(first busstop) and you are at the Montjuïc trade centre. Arriving
by train to Barcelona, the main train station Sants is connected by metro,
the red line L1, with the trade fair centre Montjuïc, exit Plaça
Espanya. When a trade fair takes place in the 2 exhibition centres,
the fair organization charters special buses gratis to connect them.
